How to export CommBank transactions to CSV
Updated 2026-10-15
In CommBank (NetBank), open the account, choose the date range and use the download/export option to save a CSV file. The file contains: Date, Amount, Description, Balance — no header row. One signed Amount column (spending is negative). Import it into a budgeting spreadsheet such as Sorted Budget and the columns are detected and categorised for you.
Steps
- Log in to NetBank on a computer.
- Open the account you want.
- Search or filter transactions and set the date range you need.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list, choose Export, then CSV.
What’s in the file
| Columns | Date, Amount, Description, Balance — no header row |
|---|---|
| Amounts | One signed Amount column (spending is negative) |
| Date format | dd/mm/yyyy |
Limits and tips
CommBank has removed OFX and QIF, so CSV is the format to use. Long date ranges may be capped at a few hundred rows per export — if the file looks short, export in smaller chunks (for example, three months at a time).
Banks update their menus from time to time. If a button has moved, search your bank’s help for “export transactions” or “download transactions”.
