What's a good alternative to Pocketbook?
Updated 2026-10-15 · Australia
Short answer
Pocketbook was shut down by Zip in 2022, and Westpac closed MoneyBrilliant the same year. Former users have three main options: the spending insights built into your bank's app, a remaining budgeting app such as Frollo or WeMoney, or a spreadsheet that sorts your downloaded bank statements automatically — no bank connection required.
Comparing the options
| Bank app insights | Budgeting apps | Sorted Budget | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multiple banks | No | Yes | Yes (4 accounts + cash) |
| Bank login shared | — | Yes (consent) | No |
| Fortnightly budgeting | Limited | Varies | Yes |
| Property / tax view | No | Limited | Yes |
| Cost | Free | Free/subscription | A$29 once |
